Potential access issues in Banff National Park
As many of you are aware, for the second year in a row this past summer, Parks Canada closed a stretch of the 1a to vehicular traffic for cycling. Parks is now soliciting feedback to make the closure permanent. There are a number of climbing areas that are impacted including Johnston Canyon and Guides Rock.

Bow Valley Climbers, now is the time to provide your opinion to shape the future of climbing access in the Canmore Area for decades to come. For the first time in Bow Valley history, climbing access trails have been recognized by the Alberta Government and with that comes a plan to maintain these trails for sustainable access. This review has also raised some concerns regarding parking, longer approaches, and deviations related to mining dispositions, all of which we would appreciate your input. Thanks so much!!! ![]()
