Stowed Gear Must be Cleared

Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) is requesting that stored climbing gear and ropes at Acephale be removed ASAP.

Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) is requesting that stored climbing gear and ropes at Acephale be removed ASAP. Typically, these notices are on a 72 hour notice, we have until end of day Monday the 2nd of September to remove the stored ropes and buckets.

What can you do to help? If you have gear stored at Acephale, take it home. If you can’t get there on or before Monday, ask a friend to pick it up for you.

CASA will remove the gear that is left after Monday, before the final inspection with parks. What is left will be donated to TABAR and/or thrown out. We may be able to make sensible arrangements to pick up of some of the items for a week afterward, but don’t take that as a firm commitment.

As you may have guessed, there’s some details we need to arrange and settle with AEP, and we’re glad to cooperate and coordinate this clean up with them. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out via the CASA Facebook page. We’ll also give more details as we know them.

It is also to important to note the longer notice period about the clean up, and AEP contacting the community to manage the clean up is a reflection the climbing communities longstanding positive relationship with parks. Our demonstrating stewardship with this issue will continue that positive cooperative relationship
